Can I install hardwood floors in any room in my house

Hardwood floors are an excellent choice for foyers, hallways, living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms and the home office. Solid hardwood should not be installed in rooms that may be high moisture areas, specifically full baths and laundry areas. High moisture can cause wood floors to warp, swell or delaminate. According to the National Wood Flooring Association, solid wood is not recomended for basements. Engineered Hardwood with a moisture barrier is a safer choice. High foot traffic areas should be coated with a durable finish and rugs or mats can be used to reduce dirt and moisture brought in from the outside.
