Maintenance

Your hardwood floor has been installed and looks beautiful.

With time, you will need to keep it looking beautiful by cleaning appropriately. Depending on the type of finish you have on your hardwood flooring, there are different methods of maintaining them.

Surface Finishes

Surface finishes are durable, water-resistant and require minimal maintenance. For cleaning, you should use the manufacturer's recommended cleaning products. Or, you can use a generic hardwood floor cleaner. You should never use wax-based  on a surface finish. In addition, petroleum-based cleaners should be avoided on water-based finishes.

Wax Finishes

Wax finishes give a low-gloss satin sheen and is generally maintained with additional thin applications of wax. Only solvent-based waxes, buffing pastes or cleaning liquids made specifically for wax-finished wood floors should be used.

Acrylic Finishes

Acrylic impregnated finishes are injected into the wood to create a super hard and durable floor. These finishes are rarely used in residential applications. For cleaning, you need to follow procedures recommended by the manufacturer.
